Effective April 24, 2026
Random chat is fun — and you should still be smart about it. Here's how to keep yourself safe.
The basics
- Never share personal information (full name, address, phone number, financial info, ID documents).
- Don't send money to people you meet on the platform. Ever.
- Be skeptical of links. Don't open suspicious URLs.
- If anything feels off, end the chat. There's always another match.
What to do about bad behaviour
- Disconnect immediately.
- Report via the in-chat button or the /report page.
- Block the user so they won't be matched with you again.
- If you witness a crime in progress or a child in danger, contact your local emergency services first, then email abuse@chatmeup.app.
Mental health
If you or someone you're chatting with is in crisis, please reach out to a local crisis line. Some international options: findahelpline.com.
Children's safety
chatvtalk is for users 16+ only. Any sexual content involving minors is reported to authorities. If you suspect a child is on the platform or being exploited, email abuse@chatmeup.app immediately.
